A Resolution to Appointment Council Member Vera Quaites to the Foley Education Advisory Committee

WHEREAS, the State of Alabama Ethics Commission says that public officials/board members fall under the State Ethics Law, and therefore should have the opportunity to educate themselves regarding this law, and

WHEREAS, the Alabama Ethics Commission has recently developed an online video training of the Alabama Ethics Law, which can be accessed at their website at www.ethics.alabama.gov, and

WHEREAS, all newly appointed and reappointed board members must submit a copy of their training certification to the City of Foley as a condition to being appointed/reappointed to the boards, and

WHEREAS, the Bylaws of the Foley Education Advisory Committee states there will be no less than five Committee member, one of which will be a member of the Foley City Council, and shall be chosen by the City Council, and

WHEREAS, the City Council's representative shall serve a term of one year, and may be replaced or re-appointed by the City Council at any time, and

WHEREAS, Council Member Charles Ebert, III wishes to resign from the Committee. 

     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

     SECTION 1:     Appoints Council Member Vera Quaites to the Foley Education Advisory Committee to replace Council Member Charles Ebert, III. beginning on May 15, 2024 and ending on May 16, 2025 based on the conditions that she submits a copy of the Alabama Ethics Law certification to the City Clerk to be included in the City's General Files.

     SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
