WHEREAS, the City was awarded an HSIP Traffic Safety Improvement Grant to design and construct offset left turn lanes at FBE and CR 12, and
WHEREAS, the funding agreement was accepted by Res 18-1313 and amended by Res 20-1003, and
WHEREAS, the City solicited and publicly opened sealed bids on Thursday, June 18, 2020 with Baldwin County Construction, Inc. being the lowest responsible bidder with the base bid of $889,175.74 and alternate bid of $240,123.01 for a total amount of $1,129,298.75, and
WHEREAS, FBE Intersection Improvements project is in the Capital Plan and will be completed in conjunction with the turn lane project, and
WHEREAS, Resolution 20-1100 authorized the Mayor to execute an agreement for CE&I Services with Thompson Engineering contingent upon award of alternate work, and
WHEREAS, Thompson Engineering submitted a proposal for CE&I Services in the amount of $148,176.15, and
WHEREAS, there is a shortfall to build with the alternate in the amount of $196,349.34.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the award of base and alternate bid to Baldwin County Construction, Inc. in the amount of $1,129,298.75 under Account No. 400-3020-5139 (HSIP-Traffic Safety Impv-CR12 & FBE).
SECTION 2: Appropriates $600,000.00 under Account No. 400-3020-5139 for the Foley Beach Express Intersection Improvements to be completed in conjunction with the turn lane project.
SECTION 3: Accepts Thompson Engineering's proposal for CE&I Services and authorizes the Mayor to execute contract for same.
SECTION 4: Appropriates an additional $196,349.34 to cover the shortfall under Account No. 400-3020-5139.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
