A Resolution to Approve FY20 Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) Application
Summary
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) is accepting applications from municipal governments for Program Year 2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds made available through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City of Foley has identified community development needs and determined that there is a critical need to provide improvements to the playground and park facilities in the Aaronville Community. A public hearing was held on July 6, 2020 informing the public of the availability of the funds and identifying the project that the City intends to address with the funds. Grant Management, LLC will prepare and submit the application on behalf of the City of Foley. The total project costs are projected at $275,000 with grant portion of $250,000 and the City match portion being $25,000 and if awarded, this will be a FY21 budget expense.

WHEREAS, the City of Foley has identified community development needs and determined that there is a critical need to provide improvements to the playground and park facilities in the Aaronville Community, and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on July 6, 2020 informing the public of the availability of the funds and identifying the project that the City intends to address with the funds, and
WHEREAS, Grant Management, LLC will prepare and submit the application on behalf of the City of Foley, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: The City Council of City of Foley authorizes the submission of a grant application to ADECA requesting $250,000 in PY 2020 Community Enhancement CDBG Funds by Grant Management LLC.
SECTION 2: The City of Foley agrees to provide $25,000 or 10% in cash matching contributions toward the project, for a total project cost of $275,000.
SECTION 3: City Council authorizes the Mayor to sign all required grant application documents on behalf of the City.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
