WHEREAS, the Baldwin County Commission and the City of Foley recognize the continued population growth in the county and its effect on the current road infrastructure within the county, and
WHEREAS the need to enhance connectivity between State, County, and City roadways is essential to expand the connectivity of our roadway infrastructure for the growing population, and
WHEREAS the two government entities desire to apply for a grant to construct County Road 20 from Hickory Street to County Road 65 in order to create a connecting corridor from State Highway 59 to County Road 65 to alleviate congestion on State Highway 59 through Foley, and
WHEREAS, the Baldwin County Commission desires to apply for an ATRIP2 grant from the State of Alabama to effectuate the construction of this roadway.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, agrees as follows:
SECTION 1: Supports the Baldwin County Commission, their efforts in this joint roadway infrastructure project, and the grant application for the project.
SECTION 2: Agrees to fund one half of the cost of the project, net of any grant dollars obtained, if awarded.
SECTION 3: Agrees to partner with the Baldwin County Commission to secure donations of any Right-Of-Way necessary in support of this project.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
