WHEREAS, the Cell Doors at the jail must be opened to provide prisoners with meals and supplies causing undue exposure and risk to Corrections Officers, and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police is requesting to replace and/or install food try inserts to the jail doors to mitigate the safety concern and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police is requesting to purchase a Taser Shield to assist in protecting the Corrections Officers when confronting and controlling potentially violent inmates.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the replacement of doors and/or installation of food tray inserts by E-J Builders and Public Works staff for up to $ 28,776.77
SECTION 2: Approves the use of restricted cash from the Jail Corrections Fund checking account for the building upgrade and to purchase a Taser Shield and amends the Jail Corrections Fund Capital Account #205-2010-5100 as stated.
SECTION 3: Approves the Increase of Funds to the Building Account# 205-2010-6010 from the Jail Corrections Fund in the amount of $28,776.77 and Small Tools Account# 205-2010-6053 From the Jail Corrections Funds in the amount of $1,065.00 a total of $29,841.77.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
