WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting to purchase (1) one Dual Purpose Canine from Police Service Dogs, Inc. (PSD) Training Center in the amount of $9,500.00.
WHEREAS, the Police Department is in need to retire (1) one present Police Canine after faithful and long service to the Foley Police Department and to the Citizens of the City of Foley, they are in need of replacing K9 Saban, and
WHEREAS, K9 Saban’s health has reached the point he is no longer able to do the work as required of a Police Canine, and
WHEREAS, a separate Resolution will be issued for the official retirement of K9 Saban at a later date, and
WHEREAS, there is no cost associated with intense Police Canine training offered by Escambia County which is a significant savings to the City.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the purchase of (1) one Dual Purpose Canine from Police Service Dogs, Inc. (PSD) Training Center in the amount of $9,500.00 from account 100-2010-5100.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
