Discuss Gateway Sign Design
Summary
DESCRIPTION OF TOPIC: (who, what, when, where, why, and how much)
Whereas the city has already passed a resolution budgeted funding for Gateway Signs, including landscaping and the signs themselves, the marketing department would like to get the councils opinion on an overall look and feel for the design that will be included on the signs. Gateway signs will greet travelers as they enter the city from the north near the intersection of Hwy. 59 and the Foley Beach Express, as well as from the south on Hwy. 59 near County Road 10. Several design ideas are attached, as well as examples of gateway signs utilizing those ideas.
An example of how these designs might be used to unify and pull together additional city signage is also included.

WHEREAS, Resolution 5065-12 appropriated $25,000 for the installation of North and South City gateway signage, to include lighting and landscaping, and
WHEREAS, design work in the amount of $500 was done but the remainder of the work was not completed prior to the FY12 year end.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves carryover of the remaining $24,500 for the completion of two City gateways and amends the budget for Account 01-626-7010.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
