The Executive Director of Public Safety requests the new position of Administrative Assistant II to provide much needed support in the emergency management functions within the Public Safety Department as well as other administrative duties. The current administrative duties that the Executive Director has depended/relied on is split duties from both the Fire and Police Dept administrative assistants. Additional duties for EMA were added to one of the administrative assistants at the fire department. However, that employee is moving out of the state shortly which will affect the administrative side of the emergency management team. The emergency management duties of the Fire Department administrative position will not be included in the responsibilities once the position becomes vacant and is backfilled. This new Admin position in Public Safety was already in the FY26 personnel requests plan, so we are asking to move this position up one year. In addition to the emergency management duties, this position will also be responsible for providing administrative and budget support to the Executive Director over all Public Safety matters (Police / Fire / EMA.). This request is budget neutral for this fiscal year and will be funded by budgeted fund transfers as documented in the attached transfer forms.
