A Resolution to Appoint Two New Members to the Industrial Development Board

 

Summary

Bob Jackson has resigned from the IDB due to moving out of the area. Tommy Patterson and Vince Hughes are both willing to fill the vacancy of Mr. Jackson's unexpired term and Keith Newton's vacant seat.

Body

WHEREAS, the State of Alabama Ethics Commission says that public officials/board members fall under the State Ethics Law, and therefore should have the opportunity to educate themselves regarding this law, and

WHEREAS, the Alabama Ethics Commission has recently developed an online video training of the Alabama Ethics Law, which can be accessed at their website at www.ethics.alabama.gov, <http://www.ethics.alabama.gov,> and

WHEREAS, all newly appointed and reappointed board members must submit a copy of their training certification to the City of Foley as a condition to being appointed/reappointed to the boards.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

 

                     SECTION 1:                      Appoints Tommy Patterson and Vince Hughes to the Industrial Development Board. Mr. Hughes's term of office will be retroactive beginning on August 24, 2021 to fill the unexpired term left by Bob Jackson's resignation, which will expire on October 2, 2022 and Mr. Patterson's term of office will be retroactive beginning on December 21, 2017 based on the condition that they submit a copy of the Alabama Ethics Law Certification to the City Clerk to be included in the City's General Files.

 

            SECTION 2:      This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
