Request to apply for AL Historical Commission CLG Grant

REQUEST TO APPLY FOR A FY 2017/18 CLG (CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT) GRANT
WHEREAS, the City of Foley is a Certified Local Government, and;
WHEREAS, the Alabama Historical Commission requires annual activities to maintain this Certification, and;
WHEREAS, the City has a Local Downtown Historic District and a National Register Historic District which could use Public Awareness and Education, and
WHEREAS, the Alabama Historical Commission has grant funding available for this purpose
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves application to the Alabama Historical Commission for a matching grant of $5,000 and a 40% City match of $2,000 for a total project of $7,000.
SECTION 2: There is currently match funding in this FY 2016_17 budget and, if awarded, money for this project will also be included in the FY2017_18 budget. The grant period is June 15, 2017 - June 15, 2018.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
