We seek a resolution authorizing the library to establish a working relationship with a primary distributer of books and electronic material.  Ingram Book Distributors are the largest distributer of library books/visual material in the United States.  This resolution would enable the library to purchase material at substantial discounts, often with free shipping, and eliminates the need for purchase orders.

WHEREAS, Ingram Book Distributers is one of approximately four primary sources to purchase newly released books and electronic material for the library, and
 
WHEREAS, according to the Code of Alabama, 1975 Section 41-16-51(a)(8) these purchases are exempt from the bid law.
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
 
Section 1:  Ingram Book Distributors is declared a primary source for book and electronic material purchases up to $50,000 (FIFTY THOUSAND AND NO/100) dollars under account 01-614-5100 as budgeted in the FY2012-13 General Fund Budget and $20,000 (TWENTY THOUSAND AND NO/100) dollars under account 01-614-5025 as budgeted in the FY2012-13 General Fund Budget.
 
Section 2:  This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
