Title
Amending Pay Classification Plan by a 2% upward adjustment in follow up to The Archer Company recommendation for maintaining the current competitiveness level of the City's pay structure and pay schedule.
Summary
DESCRIPTION OF TOPIC: (who, what, when, where, why, and how much)
The Archer Company, the City's contracted pay analysists, are recommending a 2% upward adjustment to the pay ranges in the City's Pay Classification Plan. This recommendation is based on the changes that have taken place over the last 12 months to the annual CPI index and the annual ECI index. The adjustment is recommended for maintaining the current competitiveness level of the City's pay structure and pay schedule. After an analysis of current employee pay schedules, it has been determined that there are a total of 28 employees who are either new employees and/or new to their position and therefore are at the minimum of their current pay range. Should the 2% adjustment to the Pay Plan be approved, it will be necessary to adjust these 28 employees' pay upward to their new minimum pay range. The cost of adjusting these employees is estimated at $22.5k (including benefits) which is not budgeted and would need an allocation not to exceed $22.5k.
