AMENDING THE FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT INCENTIVE GRANT PROGRAM

WHEREAS, Resolution #13-0486 created the Façade Improvement Incentive Grant Program for the Local Downtown Historic District and the National Register Historic District, and;

WHEREAS, the Incentive Grant Program was amended by #20-1180 to include the Main Street Boundary, and;

WHEREAS, applicants may wish to begin construction at their own risk with no guarantee of approval prior to completion of the grant process, they may do so with full awareness of potential consequences, and;

WHEREAS, the Incentive Grant Program provides financial assistance for exterior appearance improvement projects on buildings located in the National Register and Local Historic Districts. These districts may grow or shrink over time or the geographic footprint of the area eligible for the Program could change via council action. The Incentive Grant program will tie to those geographic footprints as they change, and;

WHEREAS, the City of Foley is a designated Main Street which has a slightly different boundary. The Foley Main Street district may grow or shrink over time and the Incentive Grant Program will tie to those geographic footprints as they change. The City would like to include the Foley Main Street boundary to encourage those property owners to apply as well, and;

WHEREAS, the standard for design in the Local Downtown Historic District is based on the Secretary of the Interior's Standard for Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings. The intent of the grant program is to encourage appropriate revitalization to as many private properties in the Districts as possible. Projects for structures located within the defined Districts, identified by maps available from the Community Development Department, are eligible to apply for grants, and;
