Medstar proposes a change in the agreement which will allow them to also file for any available insurance reimbursement for services rendered. Police Chief David Wilson has approved the contract change.
Body
WHEREAS, the City and Medstar currently have a performance contract to provide on scene medical care, and ambulance transportation for prisoners incarcerated in the Foley City Jail, and
WHEREAS, this agreement will provide for ambulance transportation to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley and the use of any medical equipment and/or supplies necessary for treatment, and
WHEREAS, the City of Foley shall pay Medstar the annual sum of $6,000.00, and
WHEREAS, Medstar has requested approval to file for any available insurance reimbursement for services rendered to the prisoners in addition to the monthly contract amount.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves Medstar Emergency Medical Service to file a claim for any available insurance reimbursement for services rendered to the prisoners in addition to the monthly contract amount of $500 per month.
SECTION 2: Prisoners will be notified at the time services are rendered that their signature will be required to file an insurance claim.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
