APPROVING CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR 2012

WHEREAS, the City of Foley’s Personnel System Policy allows for the following paid Christmas/New Year’s Holidays:

Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
New Years Day

WHEREAS, the Mayor’s State of the City Address and Luncheon is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012, and

WHEREAS, this year New Year’s Eve falls on a Monday, and

WHEREAS, the last time New Year’s Eve fell on a Monday was 2007 and at that time the City approved New Years Eve as an additional holiday for employees.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

SECTION 1: The City will close at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012, except for emergency personnel, so employees can attend the Mayor’s State of the City Address and Luncheon. Employees will be paid for the ½ day (4 hour) period.

SECTION 2: An additional day (8 hours) of paid leave for December 31, 2012, New Year’s Eve is approved for employees. The New Year’s holiday will begin at closing of work day on Friday, December 31, 2012 and operations will resume on Wednesday, January 2, 2012, except for emergency personnel.
