A Resolution to Align the Local Public School Support Payment with the School Calendar Year
Summary
The City of Foley and the Baldwin County Board of Education have previously executed a Local Public School Support Agreement, in which the City of Foley agreed to donate $200,000 to the Baldwin County Board of Education under resolution 22-1355. Baldwin County Board of Education would in turn match the City's donation. In the FY24 budget process, the City of Foley agreed to donate $250,000. A payment to the school has not been made yet for FY24, and instead the City of Foley wishes to make a payment of $187,500 which would better align our education match support payments to the FY24 school calendar year. The City would then issue a second payment in FY24 for $250,000 for the school board to use in the upcoming FY25 school year. In order to accomplish this, Finance is requesting a budget increase of $187,500 to the 100-1012-6111 Contracts for Public Services account. An amendment to the Local Public School Support Agreement will need to be executed outlining the new payment amount and timing moving forward.
