A Resolution to Create a Program of Public Initiatives and Community Events Designed for Community Outreach and Engagement and Detailing Expenditures for FY 2025
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Foley desires to implement a Program of Public Initiatives and Community Events and increase community involvement across multiple disciplines, fostering a vibrant and engaged community by creating opportunities for residents to participate in local governance, cultural activities, and recreational events that enhance the quality of life and promote a sense of belonging and pride.;
WHEREAS, the initiatives, programs and events programs will recognize members of the community who contribute and excel in various public service, community service, educational activities and city sponsored community programs and events within the City of Foley;
WHEREAS, to this end, various departments host public initiatives and that they would like to include in the program;
WHEREAS, these initiatives and events promote small scale economic development and community development;
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the program of public initiatives and community events advance a public purpose by facilitating community pride, civic engagement and economic resiliency;
WHEREAS, the program of public initiatives and community events advance a legitimate governmental interest by providing an opportunity for increased civic engagement and participation in community affairs, which, in turn, supports good governance.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: That a program of public initiatives and community events be created wherein awards that advance a public purpose are budgeted and made in accordance with the attached FY 2025 Program of Public Initiatives and Community Events.
