Additional Cooling for the Server Room

Both the server room and communications room are served by one roof top air conditioning unit. We have added numerous new pieces of equipment with more expected as the fiber project for the city is completed. The unit serving this area is the original unit and as stated cools both rooms. In order to keep the server room at an acceptable level the communication room gets very cold. Some of our communications officers have small portable heaters to stay warm due the temperature we must maintain.
We are asking for a one time transfer of monies from the Building Maintenance Budget to a Capital Request to cover the cost of adding a separate additional cooling unit as attached. This will allow the temperature to be more bearable in the communications room while keeping the server room at a level we need for proper working conditions for the electronic equipment housed there. With the addition of the fiber controls coming it is essential that we maintain a proper conditioned area so the equipment has less chance of over heating and shutting down.
Our request would be to move a not to exceed amount of $5,200.00 from Account Number 01-608-4010 to Capital Purchase Account 01-608-7010
