During the Directors meeting on January 15, 2015 Mike Thompson reported the City would be closing on the H.T. Barnes building this coming Wednesday. The building is to be used as a storage facility. Through the course of conversation Pam Harris reported the space at the Medistat building had flooded and a lot of the items needed to be discarded due to water damage or the items were no longer being used. Prior to moving the items into the new storage facility it was agreed that the items should not be relocated but discarded at the same time the move takes place.

WHEREAS, from time to time there is a need to take stock of miscellaneous items of personal property that is no longer needed for public or municipal purposes, and
WHEREAS, Section 11-43-56 of the Code of Alabama of 1975 authorizies the municipal governing body to dispose of unneded personal property, and
WHEREAS, the City has miscellaneous personal items stored in a facility that is leased from Medistat and the City will be purchasing a larger storage facility at a different location, and prior to the move it would be advantageous to dispose of certain items, and
WHEREAS, there are miscellaneous personal items that are either beyond repair or that have been damaged by water beyond repair and have no salvageable value or that just needs to be sold or disposed of in the best possible manner prior to moving.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Declares the miscellaneous personal items that are beyond repair and have no salvageable value as surplus and no longer needed for public or municipal purposes and authorizes the disposal of the items through the best possible means.
