A Resolution to Appoint James Shoots to the Foley Education Advisory Committee

Committee Member Gregg Knight's term of office expires on September 27, 2024. He has declined to be reappointed. James Shoots has agreed to fill Mr. Knight's vacant seat once his term expires.

WHEREAS, Committee Member Gregg Knight's term of office expires on September 27, 2024, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Knight has declined to be reappointed, and
WHEREAS, James Shoots has agreed to fill Mr. Knight's vacant seat once his term expires, and
WHEREAS, the State of Alabama Ethics Commission says that public officials/board members fall under the State Ethics Law, and therefore should have the opportunity to educate themselves regarding this law, and
WHEREAS, the Alabama Ethics Commission has recently developed an online video training of the Alabama Ethics Law, which can be accessed at their website at www.ethics.alabama.gov, and
WHEREAS, all newly appointed and reappointed board members must submit a copy of their training certification to the City of Foley as a condition to being appointed/reappointed to the boards.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Appoints James Shoots to the Foley Education Advisory Committee beginning on September 28, 2024 and ending on September 29, 2027 to fill the vacancy left by Gregg Knight based on the conditions that he submits a copy of the Alabama Ethics Law certification to the City Clerk to be included in the City's General Files.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
