A Resolution Approving Two Applications for the ADECA Volkswagen Settlement Eligible Mitigation Action Item Projects

Summary
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is seeking applications from Alabama Government and Non-Government entities. Projects under this grant will be funded, in whole or in part, with funds from the Volkswagen Settlement Beneficiary Mitigation. Eligible applicants are Government and Non-Government entities in Alabama looking to upgrade equipment approved by the Volkswagen Settlement as Eligible Mitigation Actions in order to reduce NOx emissions. Public Works Department requests permission to submit two applications to ADECA to replace a rear loader garbage truck and an F-750 flatbed. The total funding available for the program is $5,732,000, and the program will fund up to 80% of the replacement cost of the vehicle with 20% match required, however to be competitive the City application may include up to a 40% match. The application is due by October 6, 2026.
