(Second Reading ) AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 18-2018 AND AUTHORIZING THE USE OF GOLF CARTS ALONG CERTAIN DESIGNATED PATHS

WHEREAS, the City of Foley allows certain types of golf carts and licensed low speed vehicles to be used on certain portions of certain public right of ways in certain times, situations, and conditions; and
WHEREAS, the vehicular travel portions of some public right of ways are not suitable for golf carts; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to designate and build golf cart paths adjacent to some vehicular travel portions of public right of ways to connect certain parts of the City with other parts to be more accessible by golf carts; and
WHEREAS, current City ordinances prohibit the use of golf carts on sidewalks and bike paths;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Foley as follows:
Sec. 1. In addition to the vehicular portions of certain public right of ways previously designated for use by golf carts, the City may create and designate golf cart paths for use by golf carts under the same rules, conditions, and regulations as those applying to golf carts in the vehicular portions of public right of ways. These golf cart paths shall be within the public right of way, but be outside of the normal vehicular traveled lanes and outside of the sidewalks for pedestrians (except for golf cart crossings). In addition to golf carts, pedestrians and persons riding bicycles can also use the golf cart paths.
Sec. 2. A golf cart path is hereby designated in the following areas:
Commencing in the Southwest corner of the intersection of Michigan Avenue and South Pecan Avenue; thence running South along the western side of South Pecan Avenue; thence crossing over the proposed extension of South Pecan Avenue just South of Lay Avenue; thence continuing to run South along the eastern side of the proposed extension of South Pecan Avenue; then continuing to run South along the eastern side of East Pride Ave...
