Description of Topic: Request by Court Personnel to use restricted cash in the Judicial Administration Fund account to make a purchase as follows: Audio/Visual equipment for the Courtroom for up to $9,000.00 from Wired for Sound under account 01-617-5010.

WHEREAS, the State Legislature enacted Act 2012-535 (The Act) effective June 21, 2012, establishing a Judicial Administration Fund.
WHEREAS, additional docket fees collected as a result of The Act shall be used by the presiding municipal judge and/or the municipal court clerk for operation of the municipal court; and,
WHEREAS, additional bail bonds fees collected as a result of The Act shall be expended at the discretion of the court clerk to support the functions of the office of the clerk and shall not reduce the funds allocated to the court under any local act or other funding mechanism under the law, and
WHEREAS, the City adopted Resolution 4995-12 on July 2, 2012, to approve establishing a separate bank account for the Municipal Court Judicial Administration Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FOLEY, ALABAMA, as follows:
SECTION 1: Finance Division Staff warrants that the balance held in the Municipal Court Judicial Administation Fund checking account (01-1093) as of March 15, 2016, is $250,731.80.
SECTION 2: The Presiding Municipal Judge and/or the Court Clerk are requesting to use an amount up to $9,000.00 of the current balance held to purchase audio/video equipment from Wired for Sound and to amend small tool account 01-617-5010.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
