A Resolution Addressing Societal Unrest in the United States.
Body
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Foley supports and holds dear The Constitution of the United States; and
WHEREAS, The Constitution of The United States inclusive of its Amendments describe the parameters under which our great Nation was formed and under which our great Nation has grown to the most powerful, free, and compassionate nation the world has ever seen; and
WHEREAS, it is the position of the City Council of the City of Foley that the downfall of our great Nation can only come from within; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Foley believes that organized groups intent on changing and harming our Country are violating the First Amendment of our Constitution by using or threatening violence to silence Americans who may have differing opinions; and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Foley believes that corporate entities intent on changing and harming our Country are violating the First Amendment of our Constitution by using their control of their products or services to silence Americans with differing opinions, or by making corporate decisions for the reason of financially harming fellow Americans who have differing opinions; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Foley values all opinions of fellow Americans, regardless of whether those opinions are in alignment with ours; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Foley believes vigorous debate of issues, not silencing, is how our Country has become the greatest Nation the world has ever seen; and
WHEREAS, this Resolution is not about what these entities say, but rather, what these entities do in violation of our Constitution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama;
SECTION 1: Formally denounces all violence or threat of violence by groups trying to silence the opinions of fellow Americans.
