The Roberts/Davis family would like to purchase and donate a bronze statue of a boy playing baseball to be placed in Mel Roberts Park in memory of their father Melvin Roberts. The City would provide a boulder engraved with "Mel Roberts Park" for the statues to be mounted to.

WHEREAS, the Roberts/Davis family would like to purchase and donate a bronze statue of a boy playing baseball to be placed at Mel Roberts Park in memory of their father Melvin Roberts, and
WHEREAS, the City plans to install bronze statues of children throughout Foley as a special enhancement project and would like to provide a boulder engraved with "Mel Roberts Park" as a pedestal for the statue to be mounted to and placed in the park.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1:      Accepts a bronze statue of a boy playing baseball valued at $2,000.00 from the Roberts/Davis family to be mounted on a boulder engraved with and placed at Mel Roberts Park at the City's expense and appropriates up to $600.00 payable to Fran's on 59 from Account No. 01-620-8110 (Pub Rel/Community Dev).
SECTION 2:      This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
