An Ordinance to Establish the Polling Place for the 2025 City of Foley Municipal Election

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ordinance 20-2010 was adopted on May 28, 2020 to relocate the polling place for the 2020 City of Foley Municipal Election. The normal voting place for City of Foley Municipal Elections has been located in the Foley Civic Center on East Laurel Avenue, Foley, AL. 36535. Due to COVID-19 no longer being an ongoing social and health threat, the Mayor and City Council believe it to be in the interest of public health and safety to establish the 2025 Municipal Election polling place to the Foley Civic Center located at 407 E. Laurel Avenue, Foley, AL. 36535.

WHEREAS, the normal municipal polling location is the Foley Civic Center, which has approximately 4,464 square footage of space for the use of a polling place, and
WHEREAS, during the 2020 Municipal Election and due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, it was determined that the Foley Civic Center may not provide enough space for the poll workers, voters, and other necessary people to maintain the recommended social distancing; and
WHEREAS, the 2020 Municipal Election polling place was relocated to the Foley Event Center, which is a larger facility, and
WHEREAS, Covid-19 is no longer a social and health threat and Mayor and Council believe the it to be in the best interest of the public to establish the Foley Civic Center as the polling pace for the 2025 Foley Municipal Election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Foley City Council as follows:
Section 1. That the recitals above are hereby adopted.
Section 2. That it is necessary to name the Foley Civic Center located at 407 E. Laurel Ave., Foley, AL. as the polling place for the 2025 Municipal Election.
