DESCRIPTION OF TOPIC: (who, what, when, where, why, and how much)
The Friends of the Foley Public Library will be seeking a grant from Impact 100 which is a local Baldwin County organization that provides funding for Baldwin County based not-for-profit organizations to realize projects that have a positive impact on their community. The Library Friends would like to apply for a grant that will assist the Foley Public Library in outreach activity and the purchase of materials for use in several categories including:
1. Expanding the Autism Spectrum Disorder section in the Library.
2. Expanding the READ Dog program.
3. Extending the Baby Packets for Newborns program
4. Creating a new program of outreach to local area libraries including Magnolia Springs, Lillian, and a proposed library in Elberta.
5. Create a new outreach prgram that would provide books and DVDs on a long-term loan as well as reading sessions to local assisted living facilities.
The Friends of the Foley Library will submit their Letter of Intent to apply to Impact 100 on April 30 and have the formal application submitted by June 5. If the Friends are successful then the Library will request funds from the Friends to follow through with projects and will request that the Foley City Council allow the Library to accept funds and to expend them accordingly.
