A Resolution to Allocate and Spend Capital Project Funds to Create Design Development and Construction Plans for the Armory

 

Summary

Leisure Services is requesting moving forward with design development and construction documents for the Armory Building.  This resolution requests an allocation of $150.000 to account 400-5000-5100 Armory Renovations.  The request will cover the fee from Paul Carpenter Davis Architecture, P.C. and $30,000 in additional funding if any additional engineering work is required.  Our total expected budget at this time is $2,000,000; however, we will come back to Council with estimates and permission to bid.

      In current year Capital Projects Plan: 

        __X___ Yes, described as _Armory Renovations, planned amount $_2,000,000_, requesting $_150,000 as an estimate for the design work, including contingencies, under account #_400-5000-5100.

 

Body

   WHEREAS, the City of Foley has received ownership of the Armory Building, and,

   WHEREAS, Leisure Services has worked with Paul Carpenter Davis Architecture, PC to develop conceptual plans,

   WHEREAS, PCDA Architecture has provided a proposal for $120,000 for design development and construction documents,

   WHEREAS, Leisure Service request an allocation of $150,000 to cover all design and engineering work,

 

   NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

 

   SECTION 1:  Appropriates $150,000 for design and construction plans for the Armory Building for account #400-5000-5100 Armory Renovations;

 

   SECTION 2:  Approves expenditures up to $150,000 to complete the design work including $120,000 to Paul Carpenter Davis Architecture PC;

 

   SECTION 3: Authorizes the Mayor to sign the contract for services;

 

   SECTION 4:  This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
