A Resolution to Appoint Vera Quaites to the Foley Education Advisory Committee
Summary
Committee Member Vera Quites term as Council Representative has expired. She is willing to serve another term as a regular member of office with the new term beginning retroactive May 17, 2025 and ending on May 18, 2028.
Body
WHEREAS, Committee Member Vera Quaites term of office expired on May 17, 2025 , and
WHEREAS, Committee Member Vera Quaites has agreed to serve a three year term as a regular committee member, and
WHEREAS, the State of Alabama Ethics Commission says that public officials/board members fall under the State Ethics Law, and therefore should have the opportunity to educate themselves regarding this law, and
WHEREAS, the Alabama Ethics Commission has recently developed an online video training of the Alabama Ethics Law, which can be accessed at their website at www.ethics.alabama.gov, and
WHEREAS, all newly appointed and reappointed board members must submit a copy of their training certification to the City of Foley as a condition to being appointed/reappointed to the boards.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Appoints Vera Quaites to the Foley Education Advisory Committee beginning retroactive on May 17, 2025 and ending on May 18, 2028 based on the conditions that she submits a copy of the Alabama Ethics Law certification to the City Clerk to be included in the City's General Files.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
