A Resolution Approving a New Project for the Purchase and Installation of a Lightning Suppression System at the Foley Event Center
Summary
Sports Tourism has spent $48,200 for A/C repairs since opening and currently has a repair estimate in the amount of $40,667 to make all units fully operational. Staff has found a lightning suppression system currently used by Baldwin EMC and others from EMP Defense. We would like to be able to prevent future strikes by installing the system to help reduce our number of repairs required to maintain our rooftop A/C units. The project account number is 400-5041-5105. This is unbudgeted, but we would like to protect our systems ASAP.

WHEREAS, Sports Tourism needs to reduce the number of lightning strikes at the Foley Event Center, and
WHEREAS, staff has identified a new technology that will provide lightning suppression in the amount of $24,000
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves Event Ctr - Lightning Suppression System Project and appropriates $24,000 to 400-5041-5105, and
SECTION 2: Approves the expenditure of up to $24,000 for EMP Defense LLC. to install and certify the new lightning suppression system.
