Purchase of PastPerfect Software package and Additional Shelving for Genealogy Department/Non-Fiction Section

In order to better serve it's patrons, the Foley Public Library would like to purchase the PastPerfect Software package which will allow original documents to be scanned and added to a searchable database. That database will, in turn, make our resources available to a much wider audience. The cost of the project is $1,784.00. In addition, the Library would like to purchase shelving that will enhance the capacity of the Genealogy Department and the Non-Fiction Section. The cost of the added shelving will be $2,365.24. Both projects are to be funded by money that is already part of the 2015 budget, but must be moved from one line item to another to ensure proper coding.

WHEREAS, the City of Foley Public Library would like to purchase the PastPerfect Archival/Genealogical software to better serve the library patrons, and
WHEREAS, the City of Foley Public Library would like to purchase additional shelving as a means of enhancing the capacity of the Genealogy Department and of the Non-Fiction Section, and
WHEREAS, the previously mentioned projects have received the approval of the Foley Public Library Advisory Board as a means of better serving the patrons of the library, and
WHEREAS, the cost of the projects will total $4,149.24 with the money already budgeted and available in Fund 04 - Library Fund.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the purchase of the PastPerfect software and the shelving units and the movement budgeted funds in the amount of $4,149.24 from line item 04-600-5025 (Audio/Visual) to line item 04-600-5010 (Small Tools) in order to fund the projects.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
