A Resolution Approving the Nature Parks Pavilion Capital Project
Summary
The Nature Parks requests council approval to allocated funds for design, go to bid and if under budget authorize the Mayor to enter into the contract for construction on a large event pavilion at Graham Creek Nature Preserve. This project will be located south of the Interpretive Center and south of the creek crossing. Nature Parks plans to use Watermark Design Group (a Thompson Holdings, Inc. Company) as the sole designer for buildings constructed in the Nature Parks. Design Services including architectural design and engineering, geo technical, construction contract procurement and administration for a cost of $30,232.00. The budget for construction with 10% contingency is estimated at $290,400. This brings the total project cost to $320,632.00. This includes the pavilion of approximately 2200 square feet, two storage areas of 150 square feet each and solar powered fans. The pavilion will be used as a venue for educational programs as well as a rental area for events.

WHEREAS, the Nature Parks Department is requesting to begin the Graham Creek Event Pavilion Project, and
WHEREAS, the capital project is in the 2024 Capital Projects Plan with a planned amount of $150,000, and
WHEREAS, Watermark Design Group has provided a proposal for architectural design, engineering and other services in the amount of $30,232 and estimates the entire project to be $320,632.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the allocation of funds for design under Account No. 400-5090-5117, approves going to bid and if under budget authorizes the Mayor to enter into the contract for construction of the Nature Parks Pavilion.
SECTION 2: Approves the proposal submitted by Watermark Design Group in the amount of $30,232 to provide architectural, engineering and other required services related to this project.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
