There is a need for additional sidewalk crews to handle the City's expanding infrastructure and with the City's new automated garbage trucks, there are four surplus Sanitation Worker I positions  which can be utilized in the Street Department to create an additional sidewalk crew.  Therefore, this resolution requests to amend the Pay Classification Plan to convert four Sanitation Worker I's to four Equipment Operator I's at a cost of approximately $2,500 for the remainder of the fiscal year.  However, until the positions are posted and personnel promoted into the new positions, Human Resources will not have exact figures. Therefore, Human Resources will come back to Council to request an amount of approximately $3,000 and to transfer money from the Sanitation Department to the Street Department once we confirm which personnel will be promoted.

WHEREAS, There is a need for additional sidewalk crews to handle the City's expanding infrastructure, and
WHEREAS, with the City's new automated garbage trucks, there are surplus Sanitation Workers who can be utilized in the Street Department to create an additional sidewalk crew.  
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves amending the Pay Classification Plan to convert four Sanitation Worker I's to four Equipment Operator I's at a cost of approximately $3,000, exact amount to be determined once personnel are promoted into the new Equipment Operator I positions, effective pay period beginning June 30, 2015.
SECTION 2: Human Resources will do a second resolution to amend the budget and transfer funds from the Sanitation Department to the Street Department once it has been determined which personnel will be promoted.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
