A Resolution to Enter into a Contract with OTK Architecture LLC for the Library Renovation Project
Summary
A new library facility for the City of Foley is currently under construction with completion expected in mid-2026. Once the new library facility is completed, and the existing library facility at 119 E. Laurel Avenue is vacated, the former library building will be available for other City of Foley and public uses. Architectural and engineering services are required for the necessary building design to convert the former library into general office space. The staff of The City of Foley recommends to Council to award OTK Architecture LLC a contract and approval to enter into an agreement for the Schematic Design for the conversion of the former library building to general office space. City staff requests Council authorizes Mayor, Clerk, and other City officials to sign the contracts and other documents required to proceed. The Schematic Design architectural services shall be a stipulated sum of $48,800.00.

WHEREAS, the new City of Foley Library facility, currently under construction, will be complete in mid-2026; and
WHEREAS, the existing City of Foley Library facility will be vacated once the new library facility is completed and brought into operation; and
WHEREAS, once vacated, the former library facility will become available for other City of Foley and public uses for which various alterations and improvements will be required; and
WHEREAS, the staff of The City of Foley recommends to Council to award OTK Architecture LLC a contract and approves to enter into an agreement with them for the architectural services required for production of a Schematic Design for the conversion of the former library into general office space; and
WHEREAS, the Schematic Design architectural services shall be a stipulated sum of $48,800.00; and
WHEREAS, the staff of The City of Foley will present the Schematic Design to the Council at a future time and discuss the various options for proceeding with a renovation project of the former library building; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Award the contract to OTK Architecture LLC for the architectural services needed for the Schematic Design of conversion of the former library building to general office space and appropriate $75,000 to Account no #400-1020-5103 Library renovation - admin offices
SECTION 2: Council authorizes Mayor, Clerk and other City officials to sign the contracts and other documents required to proceed.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
