A Resolution Approving the Beulah Heights Drainage Project Design
Summary
The Environmental Department requests council approval to allocate the funds for the assessment, design, engineering, permitting and construction management for the Beulah Heights Drainage Project. The proposal is from Thompson Engineering for the services. This would also include the videoing, vacuuming and jetting of the drainage pipes flowing to the Michigan Street Regional detention pond with a sub-contractor. The proposal is for $160,600. There will be grant funds to assist with the construction of the project. Early estimates show the total budget being $750,000 for construction of a fore bay, dredging and retrofitting of the outlet structure to an automated outlet structure (to maximize capacity) The capital plan reflects the project spending $330,000 this year.

WHEREAS, the Environmental Department is requesting to begin the design of the Beulah Heights Drainage Project, and
WHEREAS, the capital project is in the 2024 Capital Projects Plan with a planned amount of $330,000, and
WHEREAS, Thompson Engineering has provided a proposal for assessment, design, engineering, permitting and construction management in the amount of $160,600, and
WHEREAS, Thompson Engineering estimates the project construction to be $750,000 with two potential grants to offset some of the costs.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the allocation of funds for design under Account No. 400-2040-5102
SECTION 2: Approves the proposal submitted by Thompson Engineering in the amount of $160,600 to provide assessment, design, engineering, permitting and construction management for this project.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
