Summary

During its regular scheduled meeting on June 6, 2022, Council adopted Resolution 22-1207, which authorized an appropriation in an amount not to exceed $100,000.00 to the South Baldwin Regional Workforce Development Authority to support planning efforts for the development of the South Baldwin Workforce Development Campus subject to like contributions from the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.  The Authority desires to conduct the planning and initial due diligence required to support and facilitate the development of a workforce training campus located in the City of Foley  in support of the Region’s hospitality and tourism related industries. The City has determined that, if developed, the Project will serve a public purpose benefiting the City and its citizens by sustaining or increasing the economic impact of the hospitality, tourism and related industries in south Baldwin County and providing educational, childcare, and transportation opportunities and other resources. The City of Foley supports the Authority’s Diligence process and its pursuit of the Project and encourages participation by other municipalities and entities in the Region to promote the Project. Therefore, Resolution 22-1207 must be rescinded due to financial support is no longer being requested.

WHEREAS, the Authority desires to conduct the planning and initial due diligence required to support and facilitate the development of a workforce training campus located in the City of Foley in support of the Region’s hospitality and tourism related industries, and

 

WHEREAS, the City has determined that, if developed, the Project will serve a public purpose benefiting the City and its citizens by sustaining or increasing the economic impact of the hospitality, tourism and related industries in south Baldwin County and providing educational, childcare, and transportation opportunities and other resources, and

     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

     SECTION 1:     Rescinds Resolution 22-1207  A Resolution Authorizing and Confirming an Appropriation by the City Of Foley to the South Baldwin Regional Workforce Development Authority to support planning efforts for the Development of the South Baldwin Workforce Development Campus in an amount not to exceed $100,000.00. 

     SECTION 2:     This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
