There is an immediate need to provide support services to the Police Department that will free up our sworn officers for tasks required of arresting authority. This request would add four (4) new Support Services positions that will assist with traffic control, school zones, dog kennel maintenance, jail support, courtroom security, special events, responsible for maintaining all traffic and support equipment and assist all departmental divisions as needed. This is a budget neutral request in regards to personnel costs. However, these positions will require vehicles, and the department will be coming back to council to request an increase to its capital accounts for vehicle purchases in an amount not to exceed $125,000.

WHEREAS, There is an immediate need to provide support services to the Police Department that will free up our sworn officers for tasks required of arresting authority, and
WHEREAS, the department requests to add four (4) new positions of Support Services Technician that will assist with traffic control, school zones, dog kennel maintenance, jail support, courtroom security, special events, maintaining all traffic and support equipment, and assist all departmental divisions as needed.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Amends the Pay Classification Plan by authorizing four (4) new positions of Support Services Technician (Job Code 2010150 / Grade 60) which is a budget neutral action regarding personnel costs.
SECTION 2: These Support Services positions will require vehicles, and the Police Department will be coming back to council at a later date to request an increase to its capital accounts for vehicle purchases in an amount not to exceed $125,000.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
