A Resolution to Approve Additional Application Costs Related to COVID-19 HMGP Grant Project
Summary
The City of Foley received approval on RES 21-1461 to apply for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Project in order to strengthen Fire Station #1. Pre-Application expenses were previously approved on RES 22-1080 & 22-1271 for a total of $25,000 ($10,000 for engineering services & $15,000 for HMGP application assistance). The engineering firm (Cowles, Murphy, Glover & Associates) is requesting to amend the original agreement with a total not to exceed amount of $20,275. A previous expenses of $8,000 has already been paid. The additional $12,275 will be paid out of the FY23 budget. This requested increase is due to an increase in scope, cost and engineering design to the project and a request for information from the State of Alabama.

WHEREAS, The City of Foley received approval on RES 21-1461 to apply for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Project in order to strengthen Fire Station #1, and
WHEREAS, pre-Application expenses were previously approved on RES 22-1080 & 22-1271 for a total of $25,000 ($10,000 for engineering services & $15,000 for HMGP application assistance), and
WHEREAS, The engineering firm (Cowles, Murphy, Glover & Associates) is requesting to amend the original agreement with a total not to exceed amount of $20,275 due to an increase in scope, cost and engineering design to the project and a request for information from the State of Alabama , and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department is requesting to amend the FY23 budget to account 400-2020-5105 (HMGP Fire Station 1 Improvements) for $12,275 for additional HMGP application assistance.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves amending FY23 budget account #400-2020-5105 (HMGP Fire Station 1 Improvements) for $12,175 for additional HMGP application assistance.
SECTION 2: Authorizes the Mayor, Clerk and other City officials to sign the task order amendment and other documents required to proceed.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
