A Resolution to Appropriate Funds and Approve the 10-Plex Improvements Capital Project.
Summary
Parks & Recreation is requesting approval for the planned 10-Plex Improvements capital project. The plan is to add lights and carpet to the batting cages at fields 6-10 as well as install a lightening suppression system at this complex. We would like to move forward now the ensure we have the work done before the spring baseball/softball season. This will also provide a safer area for our participants to warm up before games and practices. The cages are currently used frequently after dark and the limited light from the surrounding ball fields is not enough. We plan to purchase the carpet through BSN Sports under Omnia contract #R201101. We will solicit quotes for the purchase and installation of the lights. We've also had several issues over the last few years with lightening damage to our irrigation wells costing us thousands of dollars each time. We plan to solicit quotes for the purchase and installation of the lightening suppression system as well.

WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation requests permission to move forward with the 10-plex improvement project, and
WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation would like to add lighting and carpet for the batting cages near fields 6-10 as well as install a lightening suppression system.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Appropriates $55,000 to account #400-5034-5100 for the 10-Plex Improvements Capital Project.
SECTION 2: Approves purchasing the carpet through BSN Sports under Omnia Contract #R201101, soliciting quotes for the purchase and installation of the lights and the lightening suppression system.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
