Summary
The Street Department - Road Construction requests to purchase a 2023 Caterpillar D4 Bulldozer from Thompson Tractor for $388,496.00 under Sourcewell Contract #032119-CAT. A D3 Bulldozier/Trailer is planned for the FY25 Budget for $200,000.00, but due to the strong need for the equipment, the Street Department requests to upgrade the purchase to a D4 Bulldozer in FY24. The GPS software on the D4 bulldozer is top of the line and is needed for the current and upcoming road building projects and will be the replacement of the 2019 John Deere Bulldozer #3011095.
The Street Department has been renting a 2023 D4 Bulldozer from Thompson Tractor for the past 3 months for multiple road projects, totaling in a cost of $42,380.00. Thompson Tractor will allow the rental expenses to be applied towards the cost of the bulldozer, upon purchase.
The Street Department is also requesting to surplus the 2019 John Deere Bulldozer (Serial # 1T0550KKVKF350138), that is in need of track maintenance that will cost an estimated $30,000.00. The Street Department is requesting to dispose of the 2019 JD bulldozer as trade-in for credit on the purchase of the 2023 Caterpillar D4 Bulldozer for $61,000.00.

WHEREAS, the Street Department - Road Construction requests to purchase a 2023 Caterpillar D4 Bulldozer from Thompson Tractor Company, Inc. for $ 388,496.00 under Sourcewell Contract #032119-CAT, and
WHEREAS, the Street Department requests to surplus the 2019 John Deere Bulldozer (Serial #1T0550KKVKF350138) and dispose as trade-in to Thompson Tractor, for a credit of $61,000.00 towards the purchase of the 2023 Caterpillar D4 Bulldozer, and
WHEREAS, the Street Department requests to re-class the lease payments and apply the $42,380 towards the total cost of purchase of the 2023 Caterpillar D4 Bulldozer, and
WHEREAS, the Street Department requests to increase budget by $390,000.00 under account # 100-3015-5100.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the surplus of the 2019 John Deere Bulldozer (Serial #1T0550KKVKF350138) and disposal as trade-in to Thompson Tractor, for a credit of $61,000.00.
SECTION 2: Approves the lease payment reclassification of $15,860.00 from account #400-5030-5108, $13,260.00 from account # 100-3011-6044, and $13,260.00 from account # 400-3010-5100 CR-5 to account # 100-3015-5100 for the capital purchase of the 2023 Caterpillar D4 Bulldozer.
SECTION 3: Approves the increase in budget by $390,000.00 under account # 100-3015-5100.
SECTION 4: Approves the purchase of a 2023 Caterpillar D4 Bulldozer from Thompson Tractor for $388,496.00 under Sourcewell Contract #032119-CAT, under account# 100-3015-5100.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
