WHEREAS, Resolution 4413-11 approved the application for the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program Grant with awards ranging from $22,500 to $75,000 requiring a 1:1 ratio of non-federal mathing funds, and
WHEREAS, Resolution 4552-11 accepted the grant for $82,500 with a 1:1 match, and
WHEREAS, the design and permits were obtained through Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood at a cost of $61,000, and
WHEREAS, the City staff will excavate the floodplain for the project, but a qualified natural stream restoration company was required to perform the remaining construction, and
WHEREAS, the sole bidder for the project was Southern Excavating, LLC with a cost of $150,912.50.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Accepts the bid from Southern Excavating, LLC in the amount of $150,912.50 to construct the natural stream design along Wolf Creek.
SECTION 2: Approves the expenditure of the remaining grant funds in the amount of $21,500 and amends the budget to reflect an additional $135,000 to complete the natural stream restoration and vegetative planting. The account for the project is Construction Account 12-665-7286 Q68.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
