The Foley Municipal Airport does not currently have Jet-A fuel available. We would like to install a prefabricated 10,000 gallon aboveground tank in order to fuel planes and helicopters that require this type fuel thus expanding the services offered at the airport. Most importantly, this would allow our airport to provide fuel sale to the MedTrans air ambulance helicopter that is based at South Baldwin Hospital. This project would take place in ALDOT FY21, City of Foley FY22 and would be a 50/50 match.

WHEREAS, the State of Alabama, acting by and through the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has certain funding and financial assistance programs that can help finance improvements at the Foley Municipal Airport, and,
WHEREAS, the City of Foley intends to apply for ALDOT matching funds for an airport improvement project for the Foley Municipal Airport for the purpose of installing a Jet-A fuel tank to service aircraft that utilize this type fuel.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: That the City is hereby authorized to make application to ALDOT by submittal of a pre-application and grant application for airport improvement funding assistance for the purpose of undertaking a project to make improvements at the Foley Municipal Airport in ALDOT fiscal year 2021, City of Foley fiscal year 2022.
SECTION 2: That the application be submitted for and on behalf of the City by its Mayor or the Airport Manager who are each authorized, directed and empowered to apply for and enter into an airport improvement funding agreement with the State of Alabama, acting by and through the Alabama Department of Transportation including all understandings and assurances contained therein, and to each act in connection with the application and agreement and to provide such additional information as may be requested.
SECTION 3: That the authority of the City to enter into contracts with the State of Alabama has been reviewed by the City's attorney, and in his opinion, the City of Foley is duly authorized to commit the City to an agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation.
SECTION 4: That the City hereby affirms that, of the estimated $361,300 project, the local matching share of $158,150 required to complete the project will be officially approved, placed in the budget and available for expenditure upon execution of the funding agreement that includes the project budget, prior to the commencement of this project.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
