WHEREAS, the Police Department is in need to retire (1) one present Police Canine after faithful and long service to the Foley Police Department and to the citizens of Foley. K9 Saban's health has reached the point he is no longer able to perform the work as required of a Police Canine. Saban has bonded and trained with his handler, Carlos Lizarraga, over the last 5 years and wishes him to be retired to him which is standard practice. During his career, Saban has assisted in 100 arrests and 24 tracks.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves declaring surplus and retiring Police K9 Saban to his handler, Carlos Lizarraga.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
