A Resolution to Appropriate Funds for the Mills Park Improvements Capital Project Using Impact Fees.
Summary
Parks and Recreation is requesting the appropriation of $250,000 for a new playground for the Mills Park Improvements Capital Project. After meeting with leaders in the Mills Community, we were able to gather input from local churches on which playground they would like to see in the new park. The total for the equipment and installation is up to $220,000 and will provide us with matching funds from Gametime with an OMNIA Partners discount pricing up to $76,540 for the larger play structures. We are requesting an additional $30,000 to cover the site prep, fencing around the new playground, as well as contingency funds. We are also requesting permission to go to bid for the site prep, installation, fencing, and any other components as required. The total cost of the project will be $250,000 using impact fees.

WHEREAS, the new Mills Park playground is needed to add a key feature to the new park, and
WHEREAS, the Mills community has voted on a design for this playground, and
WHEREAS, Gametime provides a matching funds grant and OMNIA Partners discount pricing.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Appropriates $250,000 for the Mills Park playground upgrade to account no. 208-5030-5103.
SECTION 2: Approves application and expenses for the Gametime Matching Funds Grant in the amount of $158,080 and authorizes the Mayor and other City officials to sign the application and other documents required to proceed with the grant request.
SECTION 3: Approves purchasing playground equipment from OMNIA Partners Contract #2017001134.
SECTION 4: Approves permission to go to bid for site prep, installation, fencing, and any other components as required.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
