Summary
Wolf Creek Headwaters Restoration Improvement Project Phase I is currently in progress with a $500,000 grant through National Fish & Wildlife Foundation (NFWF). Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has currently requested a pre-application for Phase II of this project due by March 14th, with full applications due June 13th. Phase II of the project would occur during FY22 through FY23. Phase II grant request is for $3,000,000 with no matching funds. The major goal is to improve water quality in Wolf Bay by intercepting high storm water flows and providing water quality treatment prior to re-entering the system. Volkert, Inc. would be a sub-contractor on the grant.

WHEREAS, the City of Foley supported the development and the adoption of the Wolf Bay Watershed Management Plan, and
WHEREAS, the Wolf Bay Watershed Management Plan identified this area as a priority project for restoration, and
WHEREAS, Phase I of the project is currently in progress for project development, engineering and design specifications and federal and state permitting with a $500,000 grant, and
WHEREAS, now the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation - Alabama Gulf Environmental Benefit Fund has now requested the pre-application for Phase II of this project due no later than March 14, with the full project proposal due no later than June 13.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the pre-application and full application for the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation - Alabama Gulf Environmental Benefit Fund for the Wolf Creek Headwaters Restoration Project - Phase II in the amount of $3,000,000 with no matching funds to be submitted.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
