WHEREAS, the Foley Woman’s Club, which played an integral role in establishing the Foley Public Library in 1923, dissolved in December 2023; and
WHEREAS, upon dissolution, the Club donated $19,200.00 to the Library; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 24-1041 memorialized accepting the donation, amended the appropriate revenue account, and authorized the funds to be used at a later date; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 24-1041 provided that a subsequent resolution would be submitted to amend the appropriate expense accounts at the time the funds are ready to be used for the new library; and
WHEREAS, with the completion of the new library facility approaching, it is proposed that these funds be used to purchase equipment and supplies to support the development of the Sensory Room within the facility; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the Club's generous contribution, it is further requested that this space be named the Foley Woman's Club Sensory Nook.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves amending the small tools account #100-5020-6053 in the amount of $19,200.00.
SECTION 2: Approves using the funding for purchasing equipment and supplies to support the development of the Sensory Room within the facility.
SECTION 3: Approves naming the space the Foley Woman's Club Sensory Nook.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
