Summary
The City of Foley Nature Parks Department seeks permission from Council to approve the application for FY20 USDA Urban Agriculture and Innovation Production (UAIP) Competitive Grants Program. WHEREAS, the City of Foley Nature Parks Department seeks permission from Council to approve the application for FY20 USDA Urban Agriculture and Innovation Production (UAIP) Competitive Grants Program, and
WHEREAS, this is the first year of the grant program and USDA is current accepting applications until July 7, 2020, and
WHEREAS, if approved, the funds would be used to create a hydroponics operation at Graham Creek, and
WHEREAS, the grants range from $100,000 - $500,000 with no match required, however, application may offer in-kind services as a source of potential matching funds, and
WHEREAS, if awarded, this will be a FY21 budget expense.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves City of Foley Nature Parks Department to submit an application to the USDA Urban Agriculture and Innovation Production Competitive Grants Program.
SECTION 2: Approves City matching funds with in-kind services if the grant is awarded.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
