A Resolution to Close Streets for Uptown Halloween, and approve Hayride Route on Oct. 25, 2018

 

Summary

The Marketing Department requests that Council approve closing streets in Foley for the annual Uptown Halloween celebration. The streets needed to close are U.S. 98 from Hwy. 59 to Alston Street; S. Alston Street from U.S. 98 to W. Orange Avenue, and W. Orange Avenue from S. Alston Street to Hwy. 59. Also, please approve the route for the hayride, which begins on S. Alston Street traveling south to W. Verbena Avenue; turn right heading west on W. Verbena Avenue for one block to S. Pine Street; turn right on S. Pine Street and travel for two blocks; turn right on W. Orange Avenue and travel for one block; turn right on S. Alston Street and return to the beginning point.

     WHEREAS, Foley's Annual Uptown Halloween celebration will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, and

     WHEREAS, a hay ride will be included as one fo the events as it has been very popular for the past five years, and

     WHEREAS, temporary road closures are being requested for W. Laurel Ave., (U.S. 98) from Hwy. 59 west to Alston Street; W. Orange Ave. from Hwy. 59 to S. Alston Street; and  S. Alston Street from U.S. 98 to W. Orange Ave., and,

     WHEREAS, the route for the hay ride would begin on S. Alston Street traveling south to W. Verbena Ave.; turn right heading west on W.Verbena Ave. for one block to S. Pine Street; turn right on S. Pine Street and travel for two blocks; turn right on W. Orange Ave. and travel for one block; turn right on S. Alston Street and return to the beginning point.

     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

     SECTION 1:     Approves the Annual Uptown Halloween celebration to be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 5:15 p.m. until 8:15 p.m.

     SECTION 2:     Approves the temporary street closures as stated above for the party and the route for the hay ride.

This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
