WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting to purchase a new K-9 due to having medically retire K-9 Zax.
WHEREAS, Zax has trained and bonded with his handler, Curtis Ricks and he wishes for him to be retired to him, which is standard practice.
WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting to utilize funds from the Federal Drug Asset Fund in the amount of $4,000.00
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:
SECTION 1: Approves the retirement of K-9 Zax (Capital Asset # 10138) due to being medically ineffective to work as a police K-9 to his handler Curtis Ricks.
SECTION 2: Approves the purchase of a new Police K-9 utilizing funds from the restricted Federal Drug Asset Fund checking GL Account #01-1070, in the amount of $4,000.00 and amends account 01-608-5010 accordingly.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
