Due to the City's growth and anticipated continued growth, we feel it necessary to restructure the City's organization. The plan is to add an executive management team and assign certain departments with similar functions under one of these "Executive Directors" to oversee the day-to-day operations of those departments. The first request in the restructuring process is to convert and upgrade the Assistant City Administrator position to an Executive Director of Leisure Services. The following departments will report to this position: Library, Nature Parks, Senior Center, Horticulture, Parks, Recreation, and Sports Tourism. This action will require an amendment to the Pay Classification Plan and the HR Division will monitor the budget and amend if needed.

     WHEREAS, due to the City's growth and anticipated continued growth, administration feels a restructure to the City's organization is needed, and

     WHEREAS, the restructure will be carried out in phases by adding an executive management team with Executive Directors assigned to certain departments with similar functions to oversee the day-to-day operations of those departments, and

     WHEREAS, the first request in the restructuring process is to convert and upgrade the Assistant City Administrator position to an Executive Director of Leisure Services, and

     WHEREAS, the Library, Nature Parks, Senior Center, Horticulture, Parks, Recreation, and Sports Tourism departments will report to this Executive Director.

     NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foley, Alabama, as follows:

     SECTION 1:     Authorizes the amendment to the Pay Classification Plan to convert and upgrade the position of Assistant City Administrator (Pending Job Code / Grade 250) to Executive Director of Leisure Services (Job Code 1010131 / Grade 310) in the General Government Department.

     SECTION 2:     This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law.
